So I was having a long work day and had seen multiple clients. I have one client that I work with that I can’t leave unattended other than short distances who also happens to be my final client of the day. So I was waiting for her in a library room and was continuing a few text conversations…. Then it happened…

Okay, so I’ve had this issue since I was a kid that whenever I feel too hot, I tend to get a nose bleed to follow. And that is JUST what happened!

I panic!

Then I unpanic! (I just made that a word) *side eye*

I gotta think fast!

I had one hand on my nose and the other frantically rummaging through my purse for some sort of napkin or tissue. Something!

I check every compartment and come up empty and I know that I can’t leave where I am. Then I remember the one thing that I always keep in every purse.

My pride said “No, are you insane?! What if somebody sees you?!”

My dramatic side said, “We have a situation that needs to be handled or people could die!!!!”

Okay, so maybe people wouldn’t die… -___-

I had to make a decision.

Now or never.

Bloody or bandaged.

So I did the only thing that I could do in the situation…

I stuck a maxi pad up my nose.

With the end of the summer approaching, a day out with my nieces and little cousins seemed like a good idea. We made our way to Franklin Square with my mini troop of 5 and 6 year olds. The kids were enjoying themselves and I enjoyed watching them.

I decided to play “Red Light, Green Light” with them. For those of you who are unfamiliar with this game, one person gets to be the “traffic light” (not sure what that position is really called). This person either calls out red light or green light (and yellow light is sometimes thrown in with the pettier crowds). When the person yells red light, you stop. When the person yells green light, you head towards the “traffic light” person. If you make it to the traffic light person then it is your turn to be the traffic light.

So…

We’re having a good time. The kids are quite competitive when I yell out….

GREEN LIGHT!

The little ones make their way forward until a millisecond later when I call out…

RED LIGHT!

By now, I hadn’t realized that we had gotten some attention from onlookers. The cutest little girl approaches us and wants to join into the game. I had no issue with it, but I did check around for the adults that were with her to get at least a head nod that is was okay…

So…

YELLOW LIGHT!

Moments later, this beautiful man walks towards us. He might as well have had an aura around all that fineness. It turned out that he was her father. My imagination wasted no time putting our lives together. Our story would be so cute since his daughter had brought us together. As he approached, he smiled at me and my heart dropped down to my toes. I kindly smiled back at him as casual and controlled as I could. We had a moment! At least I thought so… I figured…

GREEN LIGHT!

Just as we were growing old together in my mind, my moment was interrupted. Suddenly my midday dream turned back into reality. There had suddenly been a change in destiny. The little girl’s mother came over as well who was also the beautiful man’s girlfriend. She gave me that same friendly smile…

RED LIGHT!

Game over!

I need a moment -___-.

Side note: This didn’t happen to<del>me</del>, but to someone else who shared this story.

You ever have those days where you are going on about your life, minding your own business, and are under the impression that you aren’t bothering anyone? Suddenly this all changes when your cell phone goes off and you are presented with details about yourself that you were totally (and allegedly) unaware of, and that information happens to be that you are actually bothering someone and that someone is about to passive aggressively let you know that you owe them an apology for it. How exactly are you being told this? I’m glad that you asked! It’s an attack that, if successful, makes you feel guilty and the most genius part about it, this doesn’t require anything fancy, just two words… hey stranger.

How do you start a conversation with a subtle accusation? Hey stranger.

How do you annoy someone that obviously wasn’t that interested in you? Hey stranger.

How do you turn off someone who lost their phone numbers a while back and had no other way of contacting you? Hey stranger.

How do you get blocked by someone you stalk online, but avoid in the actual world? Hey stranger.

Excuse you! Apparently, you forgot to call someone back (six months ago). Supposedly, the agreed upon arrangement of communication between you two was set on a one way street that involved you reaching out. Purportedly, you weren’t minding your own business, you were intentionally neglecting someone. Evidently, you are not much of a friend if you have become strangers. Ostensibly, you don’t see that you are the problem so you are being shown your error. Theoretically, this is your entire fault and you better fix it. Okay, enough sarcastic words ending in “-ly” (shout out to my thesaurus though), but I hope that you get my drift.

The Set Up. “Hey stranger” can have so many connotations to it, but the core of its petty use is an expectation of a repentant response. “Hey stranger” could mean “I miss you” or “you don’t think about me anymore *insert sad face*” or “just checking on you” and a plethora of other meanings. However, I view it as a hostile hello, because if your response isn’t anything along the lines of saying that you are sorry for not seeing or contacting that person, this is simply asking for trouble.

I’m hoping you’re seeing the pattern and peeping the problem, and if that problem is you… kill yourself *Kevin Hart voice*. Just kidding! But seriously, if you miss someone, just say that. If you want to see someone, just say that. If you just want to catch up, just say that as well. We are all adults, right? Starting a conversation by putting the recipient automatically on the defensive is juvenile. Of course this post isn’t written from an entirely serious stance, but much truth is rooted in jest. The moral of this unintended ethical story is, don’t bother people because you were so bored that you realized that the people you “hey stranger” weren’t obsessed with you as you believe that they ought to be. As for those pursuing uninterested “love” interests, the person you are harassing does not like talking to strangers . Fortunately, many victims of “hey stranger” attacks have mastered side stepping the sneak diss. The nerve of some people!

-Signed,

Stranger Danger

Women have always ruled, it just was not apparent. Just because their rights weren’t equal they still played the biggest role to our existence. I mean they were made for man to carry on the human race, that is, just the fact of their place.

But besides the deep state of a woman’s position they are the heterosexual man’s kryptonite. Men unconsciously do everything for women. From having a nice body, getting a haircut, going out to a club, lounge or bar, would a man do any of these things or care about any of these things if women didn’t exist? I think not. I know I wouldn’t, what would be the reason? We even want to have lots of money to impress women; I mean granted we want money for ourselves too. We also want to look nice for ourselves, but what is the point if women don’t notice?

Women want their own money, but a woman really does not need her own money because she will be picked up by a wealthy man who will take care of her depending on his attraction to her. It is what it is.

Ask any man this, ” If you woke up one day and every woman in the world just disappeared, if they were extinct from our earth, what would you do?” Any real man would say I probably would want to die. As he should. On the flip side, ask women the same question. They would not kill themselves; they would be sad, but also continue on with their lives. Women would still get manis and pedis and they would still go out, because, women go out to party and have fun with friends. Men go out to party and pick up women. This is how it is and will always be.

The most successful and longest lasting business is prostitution. Women are the most wanted being on earth, this is why they rule.

There’s this gas station that I frequent maybe once a week to fill up and to also feed my sunflower seed fetish. It didn’t take long before I had realized every night I went to get gas was the wrong time to show up (or at least I thought so).

I’d park my car to fill up as usual and left my music on, only to be disrupted by a knock on my passenger window. I was hoping it wasn’t someone asking for directions, because I was not the person to ask. Once I found out what this person wanted, I had only wished it was for directions.

<del>He was selling a mixtape.</del> No. Correction. THEY were selling mixtapes… all over the gas station! It was like you couldn’t escape them. It was as if a police checkpoint was set up and they had to check with every car …to promote their new music. I politely told him no in about seven different ways.

I went maybe four weeks straight after that on various days (trying to mix it up to avoid them) and they were there each time. They even went as far one night to insult the fact that I was listening to Beyonce and he asked me to give her a break to try out this mixtape. One guy ran down a series of questions to determine why I wasn’t interested…

:-/ …what you had a bad day?

You don’t listen to rap? (>_<)

You ain’t got time? -___-*

(<_<) …you mad at your boyfriend?

I replied, “Look, I’m fine. I just want to get gas!” He forcefully hands me a cd and says for me to just take it (for free) and listen to it. I took it… …so that he would leave.

The next week I figured I would try a new tactic, because not only had I endured a few weeks of unsolicited solicitation, but now I was plagued with the responsibility of listening to an unwanted mixtape. I didn’t want to be questioned and badgered so I decided to get gas during the afternoon.

I pulled up and the coast was clear.

Finally!

I sat back in my car to wait and just as I thought I didn’t have a care in the world…

…I heard a knock on my passenger door window.

It was a guy standing next to a car with a woman in the driver’s seat. I hoped they were asking for directions. They pull out some weird looking government ID and ask me for gas money claiming they would have to walk if they don’t have gas money. I didn’t give them the money. It turned out this was a routine and apparently they had the daytime shift.

I just wanted to get gas!

For some of us, the chase is more intriguing than the actual capture. For others, the world ought to be all about the capture. This is only the mere beginning of the confusion that leads to the heightened problem of trying to make one person the former or the latter. It isn’t my job to say who is right or wrong, but I will point out the obvious differences that some people (usually females) love to disregard… You always hear the “he was so great in the beginning” stories, which may very well be true, but if you knew the game you would understand.

“I thought you were the answer to the question in my mind, but I was wrong” -Mary J. Blige

Boys Will Be Boys. A part of me hates that saying, “boys will be boys” but it is what it is. Most males are only as committed as the moment or their options. A big issue is the delusional amounts of females that think they have a magical vagina that will keep a man chasing her. Am I saying that all men cheat? No. What I am saying is that the men that do cheat do not cheat for all the same reasons. You can’t say I don’t love you just because I cheat on you. You don’t see all I do to keep you from knowing the things I do (John Legend). The truth is tough to hear and even harder to swallow (pause), but that doesn’t make it any the truth. In many cases, lack of a father, a compromising mother, a lifetime of chick flicks, countless love song albums and chances are you have before you a pretty unstable young woman.

“Boy, I need you to meet me half way if you want me to be with you” -Keyshia Cole (but did he ask?)

Chasing Pavements. There is a grand difference between being wrongfully led on and making entire situations up in your mind. For example, responsibilities of a boyfriend being placed on a man that isn’t your boyfriend is creating your own problem. The other side of that is having unrealistic expectations for your partner. These things are irrational and you need to check yourself. Leading people on is shady and at some point in your life you need to learn to detect this, if not then maybe you need to get feedback from those who can because nobody wants to hear about the 25 year old that somehow keeps getting “screwed over”. Everyone seems to do you wrong, but you’re in love like every other week too? If you wanted to be treated like an adult you also need to grow up and deal with adult situations and adult consequences. While all the time that I was loving you, you were busy loving yourself. I would stop breathing if you told me to, but now you’re busy loving someone else (Mary J. Blige). That is a dangerous mindset. I understand your feelings. I feel them. That doesn’t justify your actions. If you were so meant to be, he’d call. He would never ignore you, disrespect you, get at your friends and whatever other trifling drama that occurs. Many just don’t want to accept reality, but that does not mean that reality does not exist. You can’t expect someone that is irresponsible in every other area in their life to do right by you.

“Don’t wanna lose ya. Don’t even own ya. I just wanna stay right here until never dawns, yeah.” -Corinne Bailey Rae

Why Are You Mad At “HER”? I’m riding home in pain again baby, and that don’t mean sh*t to you. You’re currently engaged in an intimate conversation with a young groupie or two. See players only love you when they’re playing games, still I gave my heart to you (Mariah Carey). The arch enemy! The other woman! This is the ongoing beef. It’s comedic. It’s sad. It’s a mess. When it comes to your alleged man messing around, that ought to be an issue with you two instead of you calling, harassing, arguing with, fighting, threatening, stalking the other female. I know it’s easier to trigger the energy to the other party whether or not the person knew about you, but the problem is your significant other (and maybe even you). Leave that woman alone and handle your business. People will only do to you what you allow them to get away with.

“And I try to front like ‘oh well’ each time you’ve let me down.” -Mariah Carey

Don’t get me wrong. I understand every feeling, however, to continually put yourself in those situations are pure insanity and people like that get no sympathy from me. In most cases, more females want to replace everything they never had in life with the love of a “man” and that just isn’t the way things work. It’s tough, because you hope almost every one you meet is the one because you want the search to be over. A big part of the issue is that you don’t do a self-assessment first. Get your own life together before you invite someone else into your messy house. My hope is that all of you put more effort into the damage control (that is yourself) than into someone that could most likely care less. You realize these guys don’t alter anything about their everyday and you change your number, clothes, hair, voice, eating habits, hobbies and affiliations. This is a sad reality. Let “him” go. Don’t be afraid to live better for yourself, because he’ll be fine with or without you.
